Practical
Before you come.
Arriving
Doors open thirty minutes before the first reading. Come early if you would like a seat near the front; the room is small and fills quietly.
Getting there
A short walk from the nearest Underground and Overground stations, with several bus routes close by. Cycle racks are on the street outside.
Accessibility
Step-free access to the main room and an accessible toilet. Tell us what you need when you book and we will have it ready.
Questions
Asked often.
No. Most readings are in Portuguese, and much of the conversation around them happens in English. Many evenings include translation or short introductions in English, and no one has ever been left out of the conversation for lack of a language.
Reservations are free. We ask you to book so we know how many chairs to put out, and to tell us if your plans change so someone else can take your place.
Yes. Sign up on the night at the door: three minutes, your own writing or a page by someone you love. If you would like a longer, programmed slot, send us your work through Take the Stage.
The evenings are late and the readings are for adult audiences, though older teenagers who love books are always welcome with an adult.
Please do — you can reserve up to six places in one booking.
We photograph the room and occasionally record audio for the archive, always with the readers' consent. We never photograph the audience close-up without asking.
